Homelessness
Today, I walked past that empty school,
Windows cracked, it felt so cruel.
Saw a man with a tired face,
Dreaming of a warmer place.
Yes, housing the homeless, it’s time to care,
so let us open those doors,
let them breathe the air.
From community halls to the vacant streets,
Together we rise, together we meet.
Remember that night, it rained so hard,
A mother cried, holding her card.
Said she lost everything, dreams turned to dust,
In the shadows of pain, we can’t just rust.
Housing the homeless, it’s time to care,
Open those doors, let them breathe the air.
From government buildings to shelters so warm,
We’ll build a new future,
weather the storm.
I’ll share my bed for a friend in need,
We all have stories, we’re planted like seeds.
From the laughter of children to cozy old chairs,
Everyone’s welcome, the love that we share.
Saw a group of friends in the park at dawn,
Their smiles shined bright,
they’ve weathered the storm.
They told me of hopes, of dreams built on trust,
With a little compassion,
it’s a path we can trust.
Housing the homeless,
let’s break down the walls,
Fill up the spaces, answer the calls.
From shadows to sunlight,
we’ll shine like a flame,
Together we’ll build,
and we’ll never be the same.
So here’s my hand,
and here’s my heart,
Key to a home,
let’s make a new start.
Housing the homeless,
it’s more than a dream,
Together we rise,
we’re a powerful team,
we are a powerful team humanity,
so let us end homelessness,
and house the homeless in government owned buildings and community centres,
whilst we build houses and buy prefabricated buildings,
and set the homeless free,
and save the homeless from misery,
